I HATE The Word Diet!
•Posted on August 10 2015
Hi everyone!
I am always hearing people moaning about the fact that they haven’t stuck to their diet etc. which is not a big shock when people make a New Year’s resolution… however I HATE the word diet – diets are not the answer.
I will let you in on a secret – there is no quick fix! There is no one food that you can or cannot eat that has magical slimming powers, trust me if there was – I would be onto it!
Anything that sounds too restrictive or not nutritionally sound is not the way to go. What I follow and truly advocate is a way of eating that can be sustained for the rest of your life, where you eat healthy most of the time and allow for occasional treats along the way– the 80/20 rule. I think most people would struggle to eat 100% clean all the time, but if you can I salute you!
The second realization is that you can't go back to your old habits once you lose the weight you wanted to. If you gained weight demolishing half a dozen donuts each morning, you can be assured that you'll gain the weight back if you head to that bakery shop on the way to work once the scale says what you want it to.
The key to staying on track with your new healthy lifestyle is to keep mixing it up and trying new foods, recipes and ideas. If you eat the same foods every day you will no doubt get bored, feel deprived and sooner or later want to eat everything in sight… (or is that just me?)
It’s about constantly making small changes along the way to lead a healthier lifestyle and when you do occasionally go off track – its ok, join the club… we are only human!
IT’S A LIFESTYLE – IT’S NOT A DIET!
