I always like to start my day with lemon and hot water – I absolutely love and find it is really refreshing, but most of all its really good for you!
Lemons are a really good source of vitamins and minerals which are essential for healthy functioning of the body. They are a very rich source of vitamin C which is an amazing antioxidant. It also contains vitamin A, vitamin B6 and vitamin B1. Minerals present in lemon include copper, calcium and potassium. Copper contains antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Calcium is good for bones and teeth while potassium helps maintain PH and water balance. It also has low calories, low cholesterol and low saturated fat.
It is this wide array of beneficial nutrients that makes lemon water extremely beneficial for health. Here are a few benefits:
- Aids digestion: Digestion is really important when it comes to overall health. Poor digestion can lead to various health complications. Warm lemon water is a simple, quick and effective home remedy for digestive issues. This is why I start my day with warm lemon water on empty stomach every day. Daily consumption of lemon water can help indigestion issues like bloating and heartburn. It treats constipation by helping in waste elimination. Many digestive disorders take place because of poor pH level and lemon water actually helps restore these levels and aids digestion.
- Strengthens Immune System: Our immune system protects our body by fighting illness. Weak immune systems make our body vulnerable to illness and infections. Warm lemon water has anti-bacterial properties which fight harmful bacteria that cause diseases and infections whilst its antioxidant property helps eliminate toxins from the body.
- Benefits for Hair & Skin: Vitamin C helps to heal damaged tissues, lightens dark spots, prevents spots and helps reduce sun damage.
Give it a go every morning for a week and see how different you feel!
