Caring For Your Leggings

Due to the sublimation lycra fabric, we would like to offer the following tips which you may find helpful to keep your Tikiboo leggings and capris in their best and brightest conditions.

Please follow the instructions below:

  • Avoid all rough and sharp surfaces
  • Do not rub up against any rough surfaces
  • Do not iron
  • Do not bleach
  • Do not tumble dry
  • Avoid fabric softener

The drawstring is a removable option on the leggings, they are designed to be fit for many different activities, some of which require a drawstring so we added a drawstring as an extra feature. This however does not suit everyone and a lot of customers remove them out of choice and they remain firmly in place for most sports. The drawstring can be annoying when doing things such as yoga so we made it an easily removable option rather than stitching it in.

Please take care when tying items around your waist during activities as this may cause damage to your leggings if the items rub against your leggings. Be specifically wary of any items containing velcro as this will snag your fitness tights. Care for your leggings as you would a pair of tights.

Please take care with the zip pocket, this pocket is designed to store a key, bank card or even a phone on a run, however if it is constantly pulled in and out on a run it could damage the pocket. Please take care when inserting items and pulling them out to avoid pulling the zip away from the fabric.

These items can be machine washed but please be warned that they have a drawstring waist and to ensure this stays within the leggings please simply tie them in a bow when washing. Loose strings can get tangled around other items in the washing machine and be pulled out so to avoid having to re-thread please tie the string.

The tie style drawstring coming out in the wash is not a design flaw and we try to highlight that they must be tied prior to putting into the machine, if this does happen on the first wash most people remember to tie it again on the 2nd wash.

If you find the string has come out simply attach to a hair grip/bobby pin and thread back through. The newer models however contain a looped drawstring which can be tied.

When washing your leggings use on a cool wash or hand wash for the best results, This will help to protect the life of the LYCRA® fibre and the shape of your garment.

Hang to air dry, this will prevent any heat damage to the LYCRA® that a tumble dryer may cause. Drying naturally will maintain the shape of the garment and prolong the life of it.

Avoid fabric softener, this can coat the technical fabrics and inhibit the garments sweat wicking properties. It can also make the item slippery and prone to falling down.

If your garments start to feel as though they are losing their shape rewash them in a cool wash without fabric softener and they should return to their correct state.

Turn your leggings inside out and wash it with other synthetic fabrics (e.g.LYCRA® nylon, etc.) and avoid anything abrasive, such as denim or garments with Velcro® or zippers. These can be harmful, especially in a repetitive motion like in a washer or dryer.

Be careful with any jewellery, finger nails etc when pulling on, treat the leggings like you would a pair of tights, the fabric is strong but may damage if snagged.

We are unable to offer refunds or exchanges to people if these steps are not followed, we try to bring as much awareness to this as possible so please do take care of your leggings and they will last a long long time!
